The Peg Group

A family story

A family business in Normandy, strongly attached to its local roots and independence. Throughout our history, we've built our business around one common thread: technical polyester wadding.

  • The birth of Peg

Based in Elbeuf (76), GUEROT is one of the oldest companies in the fraying sector, having started out in the middle of the 19th century.

Behind the 3 letters of Peg lies Paul Edouard GUEROT. He took over his father's company and gave it his name. At the end of the 19th century, the company became a major player in the fraying of Normandy textiles. Recycling was already at the heart of its DNA: by recovering rags and new waste from textile factories, the company manufactured stuffing for the design of blankets.

  • An evolving company with a family spirit

On the death of Paul Edouard GUEROT, the company continued to operate under different management. Emmanuel Maxime GIRAUD, one of his nephews, took over the Peg group and Georges LEROY joined him. Later, his son-in-law Robert COMALADA joins them.

  • The textile crisis

Synthetic fibers arrive on the textile market. Little by little, polyester supplanted wool and cotton. Having to adapt to this new demand, the Peg Group took a natural turn. Drawing on its expertise in textile fraying, the company began to do the same with synthetic fiber waste from the hundred or so factories established around Elbeuf (76). This is the historical basis of Peg's business.

  • Extreme-cold expertise

Peg is making a name for itself in cold countries: parkas manufacturers in Russia are quick to understand the benefits of these wadding materials with their excellent thermal properties.

At the same time, mountain sports were developing, and with them new needs: Peg became the leading manufacturer in Europe. Effective and warm, but still very heavy, these wadding materials maintain the old belief that weight is synonymous with good thermal insulation.

  • The Dénestanville plant is created

A brand-new production line for polymerized wadding has been installed at Dénestanville, some fifteen kilometers from Dieppe. It is the first in France to use this technique. Peg believes in the future of synthetic fibers and becomes the undisputed leader in polyester fiber fillings for clothing. The company establishes its know-how and is quickly recognized for its quality and innovations.

  • Wadding becomes light

The fiber density of wadding is reduced thanks to the arrival of very fine fibers. Insulation, lightness and strength: three qualities that would enable Peg to sell millions of meters of wadding on all 5 continents. It also marked the creation of the first comforter production line.

  • The assault on comforters & pillows

Creation of the first pillow production line. The Peg team deploys its know-how in the world of bedding: its insulating, light and resistant fibers are now used in comforters and pillows sold in Mammouth supermarkets, and then progressively in all supermarket giants.

  • Wadding breathes

These fibers evacuate the excess moisture and heat produced by intense effort, opening the door to highly technical markets for athletes and soldiers operating in extreme conditions.

  • Construction of the Varneville logistics platform

Between Dieppe & Rouen, at the heart of the motorway junction between northern and western France, 7,000 m2 of covered space are being built to ensure the smooth, efficient flow of the Group's deliveries.

  • Peg enters the construction sector

If Peg knows how to equip clothing for protection against the cold (-40°C), why not equip a building? The company has drawn on its expertise in high-temperature technical wadding to create insulation from recycled polyester.

  • The Varneville production site comes into being

Inauguration of the factory which joins the logistics platform, so that these 14,000m2 are entirely dedicated to the bedding sector. Production capacities that enable this family-run SME to compete with the big boys!

  • A brand from Normandy

Colas, an old name from our beloved region & "Normand", a Viking drakkar: this is the birth of our Colas Normand brand of comforters & pillows, sold in supermarkets & specialty stores.

  • Made-to-measure Peg: as projects & tenders multiply

PEG's art is to master all fiber and wadding transformation techniques to manufacture "made-to-measure" semi-finished products. The aim is to meet customer requirements and the properties defined in the specifications. As a result, manufacturers of furniture, bedding, etc. call on the group.
